Abstract

This paper presents an econometric analysis of indicators of competitiveness related to entrepreneurial efficiency, specially those associated with relative potential competitiveness. Such indicators are obtained by means of the relation between real wage series and labor productivity in the state of Minas Gerais
compared to the national indicators. This test is applied to the data collected from the Monthly Industrial Survey conducted by the Brazilian Statistics Institute (IBGE). The econometric characteristics of the indicators of competitiveness series are analyzed using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller and Perron tests. The date of break is endogenously determined. The results are different according to the industrial sector that is taken into consideration, to the moment of structural adjustment in the period from 1985 to 2000 and to the existence or not of an
increasing or a decreasing trajectory for the industrial competitiveness.
