Impact of teacher satisfaction on academic performance among adolescents
Abstract
This research examines the impacts of teachers' satisfaction with their profession and current work environment on the academic performance of 15 to 16-year-old students in Germany, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, United States, Portugal, United Kingdom, and Taiwan. Data from the 2018 PISA and the Education Production Function were considered. The results showed that teachers' satisfaction with the current work environment has a greater impact on students' educational performance than teachers' satisfaction with their profession. Furthermore, robustness analysis showed that teacher satisfaction has different impacts across different quantiles analyzed.
