A indústria manufatureira e fabril em Minas Gerais, 1907-1954
Abstract
The aim of this article is to examine the industrial profile of Minas Gerais in the first half of the 20th century, analysing the main companies, changes in production and industries, as well as evaluating the concentration of industry. Despite the change in the position of the Zona da Mata and Centro regions as the main manufacturing areas of Minas Gerais during this period and the growth of the steel sector, we emphasise that the industrial profile of Minas Gerais during the first half of the 20th century was predominantly agro-industrial, a processing industry focused on non-durable consumer goods, mainly the food industry.
