As outras economias diante das crises múltiplas: tecendo novas relações socioambientais

Authors

Abstract

The contemporary historical context is marked by an interplay of multiple crises, which demand plural responses capable of generating diverse modes of transformation in the economic systems that fuel the critical socio-environmental context of recent years. The paper departs from the recognition of the diversity of the other economies – treated as a term capable of encompassing the popular economy, the solidarity economy, cooperatives, and a wide range of economic activities situated outside the traditional domain of the private sector and the state – pointing to their importance in the current historical context, through the ways in which their activities can advance reflections on development projects in the contemporary context, and nourish the necessary responses to the intertwined crises. The environmental dimension, central in the current framework, is addressed through the perspective of the metabolic rupture and the projects of degrowth through the strengthening of the common, having the other economies as a structuring axis.
