THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY AND EMERGENT SYSTEMS IN THE COVID-19 CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLAN AT THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE

Abstract

The arrival of COVID-19 in Brazil has meant a series of actions to reduce its spread. Among these measures, social isolation can be considered the most significant impact on Brazilian organizations, especially those that have never faced the challenge of reducing the number of face-to-face employees and turning to home office. The National Cancer Institute (INCA) is a specific case in which the contagion of patients by COVID-19 can have serious effects. This peculiarity meant that INCA had to elaborate an emergency plan to preserve employees and patients during the pandemic. This article, therefore, aims to present the strategy developed by the Information Technology (IT) INCA's team to support the Institutional Plan of COVID-19, considering the technological resources for home office, emergent systems, and the information treatment. The work is part of ongoing thesis research, in which techniques and reflections originated from previous studies allowed to increase the process of planning and executing the strategy.
