Abstract

In this photographic record, we intended to portray, visually, a specific feature of contemporary cities, their representation as a fatigue city trying to resist and to resignify in a performance society, according the concepts discussed by the philosopher Byung-Chul Han. In order to do so, 35 photographs of the city of Belo Horizonte were taken during the first semester of 2018. As we shall see, these photos show a burnout city and a city that gets tired, absorbed as it is in its concrete gardens, its relentless traffic, its market-oriented leisure places that encloses nature and transform everything around it into "squares" that are nothing more than new places to work. In the end, as an emblematic example of this dispute, between the city that does not shelter us to foster contemplation, resting and quality of life, and the people who demand fun, rest, and leisure, we present the "Station Beach" event.
