Abstract

With practical and theoretical support of Wim Wenders' Tokyo-Ga and the photographic work Em busca de Elliott Erwitt, developed by me in the master project by PPGAV - UFRGS, I analyze the force of the images to construct a certain look about the city. Photography and cinema would play an important role in the construction of an urban imaginary, interfering with our desires to see and relate socially. Thinkers such as Susan Sontag and Marc Augé aimed their reflections on the relationship between the involvement and the production of images, perceiving ethics of social conduct in what refers, especially, to photography. This production of images would directly interfere in the real, proposing a cut of the same through the look, what François Soulages would refer like an exercise of the fiction.
