Abstract

    The present study has the two objectives to verify the adjustment of measurement of economical acting to the Value Based Management (VBM), and to investigate the empiric use of these indicators by the wholesale companies and Brazilian distributors. The study is classified in a descriptive research, made by a raising field, with the wholesale companies and Brazilian distributors of the Associação Brasileira de Atacadistas e Distribuidores (ABAD) been the object of the study. The sample is compound by 101 companies. It was verified that the indicators Residual Economical Result (RER), Discounted Cash Flow (FCD) and Integral Economical Result (REI-GECON), preserved the limitations, can help the VBM. However, empirically, the most used indicators by the enterprises researched are those that are based on the traditional accountancy, been the accounting profit the most used. The created shareholder value, the indicator recommended by the consulted literature, is less used by that companies. The identified causes for this were: acknowledgment of techniques used, the low number of qualified workers, and the misdeed of information's necessaries to adopt the Value Based Management.
