Abstract
Objective: To identify the required managerial competences and the evidenced managerial competences in Brazilian hospital managers. Method: An integrative literature review in which studies published between January 1st, 2007 and December 31th, 2020 were considered. Results: Twenty-one (21) articles were analyzed for this study, in which 49 required managerial competences and 31evidenced managerial competences in managers of Brazilian hospitals emerged. The results indicated a predominance of studies aimed at nurse managers in the context of Brazilian hospitals. It was also evident that most studies address competences from the perspective of the American current thought of competencies in detriment to other current thought that consider competences from the point of view of the context to which they apply. Conclusion: The studies highlight the importance of managerial practice and managerial development strategies, such as in-service training and continuing education in health as forms to develop managerial competencies in hospital managers’. Furthermore, the finds suggest the need for studies on managerial competences based on other perspectives on competences that consider the context of managers, which will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge about managerial competences.
