Abstract
Objective: To analyze hospital SCM methodologies in order to describe how they influence costs and value addition. Method: this is an integrative review to analyze the existing literature on the subject, based on a search strategy defined in specific databases. The sample consisted of 20 primary studies from a universe of 548 articles. Theoretical foundation: In recent years, hospital care costs in Brazil have increased, and health services increasingly seek to establish a competitive advantage through processes that reduce costs and generate value for the patient. Results: weaknesses in the management of the hospital supply chain were evidenced, such as the lack of integration of information and processes and the high logistical cost demanded. Although still little explored, there is a growing use of management methods by health care providers in order to achieve efficiency in the supply chain. Conclusions: it indicates the need to improve the hospital SCM and develop employees who participate in its processes, so that cost reduction and value addition are achieved.
