MODEL FOR ANALYSIS OF HUMAN RESOURCES REQUIRED FOR HOSPITAL PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES FOR COVID-19 IN BRAZIL

Abstract

Objective: To present a model to analyze and dimension the human resources of hospital pharmaceutical services in the assistance to the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Method: Scientific literature and legislation were identified and analyzed to define the activities and parameters necessary for hospital pharmaceutical services in the routine of health services and in the pandemic context. Theoretical Rationale: Disasters severely affect health systems. Hospital pharmaceutical services is part of this context as a key activity in health emergency response. Results: A total of 14 activities demand exclusively pharmacists in hospital services. For each of these, parameters were defined for sizing the number of pharmacists needed and the sources of information and related legal bases were identified. Conclusion: It is considered that the model is able to estimate the need for human resources for hospital pharmaceutical services required in routine care and the needs of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this sense it is useful for preparation at the service and central management level in the three spheres of government.
