A NOMEAÇÃO DE OFICIAIS DA LINHA COMBATENTE PARA A DIREÇÃO DE HOSPITAIS MILITARES DO EXÉRCITO:

Abstract

This paper analyzes the appointment of officers of the war line to the direction of military hospitals of the Brazilian Army, and the related challenges for the leadership. Such an approach is justified in view of the recent appointment, in 2020, of two branch career officers, trained at AMAN, to head military hospitals of the Land Force, breaking a paradigm of always selecting a health military officer to conduct a hospital. The aim of this study is to analyze whether the appointment of branch career officers to the direction of Army hospitals will make it difficult to carry out their activities, regarding leadership over subordinates. This purpose will be achieved through qualitative research, with bibliographic and documentary review. The analysis showed that anyone, whether in the health field or not, is able to assume the direction of a civilian or military hospital, since they are properly prepared with knowledge of hospital administration and management. It was also evident that personal skills and competences are necessary to develop leadership in a nosocomio, more specifically in an Army Hospital, due to the peculiarities it has in relation to civil health organizations.
