Abstract
COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease and, due to its rapid spread globally, who has announced a pandemic. In this context, this article aimed to analyze the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of the Brazilian population in general, verifying the possible triggering impacts of emotional changes. As a method, a systematic review was performed withsearches, without time delimitation, in the SCIELO ElectronicLibrary, and 18 articles were analyzed in depth. The main results showed that: (a) a pandemic causes changes in diet, delimitation of physical activities, immunological changes, increased negative feelings and psychological consequences; (b) the population has experienced not only a health crisis, but also a political crisis, with significant financial changes and increased rates of domestic violence; (c) mental disorders arise from the influence of multiple factors, and consequently can arouse this mental suffering; (d) different good practices may contribute to maintaining mental health and reduce psychopathological symptoms during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, this research contributes to synthesizing the possible impacts of the pandemic on mental health, thus expanding possibilities for assessing the context in mental health in the COVID-19 pandemic.
