PERCEPTION OF HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MANAGER IN PATIENT SAFETY

Abstract

Objective: to identify the perception of documents and students about the importance of the hospital manager in the scope of patient safety. Method: this is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach, developed in a federal university with professors and students from the Higher Course in Technology in Hospital Management. Data were collected with students from individual interviews or via electronic form and with documents by individual interview. They were analyzed by IRAMUTEQ. Results: a sample consisting of 19 documents, which includes 17 course modules that address patient safety, while students are 12 participants and 5 modules; both addressed the reasons for the manager's importance, an importance in building protocols, promoting a safety culture and guaranteeing the quality of service and the manager's need to know patient safety. Conclusion: it was evidenced that the manager is essential for patient safety, since it is fundamental in the construction of protocols, in the promotion of the safety culture and in ensuring the quality of the service.
