Abstract
This work aims to analyze the environmental management of a public hospital located in the municipality of Ivoti, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. For this, the environmental management practices were identified, exploring the operation between different sectors and establishing notes on the process of environmental management. The research problem was approached in a qualitative way, through a case study. Triangulation of data collected through non-participant observation, documentary survey, semi-structured interviews with those responsible for all sectors of the hospital and by the central of waste and control of infectology was done. Based on the collected evidence, weaknesses were verified between the practices of the hospital in relation to the theoretical references of environmental management. There was also a lack of knowledge on the part of the interviewees in relation to the issues addressed to the categories investigated, both in the administrative and care sectors.
