Abstract

A contemporary worldwide phenomenon, digital bubbles are growing exponentially and increasing their influence through their followers, groups that feed on various socio-psychological stimuli, including the narcissism of small differences, the desire to be part of something great and the conviction of moral superiority over isolated people or other social groups. Using a theoretical framework of psychosociological affiliation, we argue about the dynamics of the functioning of these hypermodern groups, some types of messages conveyed and highlight - at the individual level - potential side effects of a social and psychological nature and the construction of paradoxes related to the importance of image, the sense of reality and a new type of loneliness, in which the individual is alone but immersed in a virtual crowd. The aim is to provoke reflection and encourage debate on the reductionist behaviors that are becoming increasingly automated.
