It is a Systematic Literature Review based on 99 papers published in the Scopus database related to the research topic. The study shows the main characteristics of the research carried out on the adoption of mobile devices in the health area, highlighting the evolution of publications, areas, main users and research topics. The results pointed out a number of possibilities to enhance users engagement, using facilitating factors to encourage them or inhibiting factors to be overwhelmed. We expect to contribute to academics and managers providing suggestions for further research, as well as actions to encourage user engagement in the use of these technologies.
