A APLICAÇÃO DO MÉTODO FEFO E USO DE IDENTIFICAÇÃO VISUAL NA GESTÃO DE ESTOQUE HOSPITALAR

Abstract

Objective: To propose the application of the FEFO method (First expired, first out) and the use of colored labels in the hospital inventory management process from the Material and Sterilization Center (CME). Method: Action research developed at the CME of a large private hospital. Data analysis allowed knowledge about the average monthly productivity of sterilization in the autoclave and in Sterrad, the average of resterilizations from January to September 2020; and obtaining all expenses involved in the process. Theoretical Rationale: CME is responsible for processing and cleaning health products that will be used in all sectors of the hospital, thus, a place destined for cleaning, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical and hospital articles . Results: There was a trend towards an increase in the number of material re-sterilizations in all hospital sectors, showing a high cost in the long term. Conclusion: It is important and necessary for all organizations to consider cost management and inventory control as an action of great importance for finance and market competitiveness.
