Evaluation of the psychosocial care network:

Abstract

The Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS in Portuguese) stand out for being strategic devices in the structuring of the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS in Portuguese), being responsible for directing the local Mental Health policy. The objective of this study was to evaluate the coverage of CAPS, in its various modalities, comparing 2018 with 2011, the year that marks the beginning of the implementation of RAPS, using Minas Gerais (Brazil) as a scenario. As data source was used DATASUS (Department of Informatics of SUS), from the Ministry of Health. In addition to the CAPS coverage rate per 100 thousand inhabitants, the information obtained by CAPS modality was analyzed, which allowed to evaluate possible specificities and assistance gaps. The survey results show that, in 2018, the general coverage rate of CAPS in the state of Minas Gerais was very good, with only one microregion presenting an assistance void. When the analysis by CAPS modality is performed, the situation is different, with other microregions presenting voids. The elements identified in this study are expected to be useful for state managers, supporting the forthcoming discussions on RAPS and the increase in CAPS.
