Abstract

Objective: To report the experience of the process of preparing an educational material entitled "Health Promotion for the Elderly: Guidance for professionals in primary care". Methodology: Based on the case study, with the participation of different actors. Data were collected through a focus group and individual interviews. Theoretical framework: Population aging occurs in an accelerated way in Brazil, characterized by an epidemiological transition, with emphasis on chronic diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic made this context even more complex, with the elderly being singled out as the most vulnerable, requiring actions to promote health in primary care. Results: Based on the thematic analysis - access, health determinants, family support network, construction of knowledge and comprehensive care - which denoted the perception of primary care professionals about promoting the health of the elderly, the preparation of educational material was proposed. Conclusions: It is expected to disseminate the potential of the collective construction of an educational material, considering different perspectives on the promotion of the health of the elderly.
