Abstract
The article aims to present the ideas debated by students of the Master's course in Health Services Management at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) related to the new financing of Primary Health Care (PHC), entitled Programa Previne Brasil, and propose suggestions for managers of the Municipal Health Departments to deal with the challenges of the new financing model. The methodology consists of an experience report of a discussion forum among students of that master's course on the topic of new financing. As a theoretical basis, official publications and articles related to the principles of the Unified Health System, the guidelines, characteristics and attributes of PHC and the Previne Brasil Program were used. Four topics of discussion were analyzed: universality of access and registration, positive and negative impacts on PHC assumptions, changes in strategic actions, and health planning and loss of resources. It was concluded that the debate was enriching for the qualification and decision making of health managers.
