Abstract
Innovation is a strategic tool designed for decades for organizations to ensure a competitive advantage in the market in which they operate. Therefore, this article has as main objective to present Smart Track, an innovative model in the provision of assistance services in a hospital emergency. We sought to elucidate the importance of the thematic innovation, how it has been applied in the health area. To this end, a case study was carried out in a hospital located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, which is part of a large hospital network. The innovative Smart Track model, allowed the reduction of the waiting time of the patient from 30 to 10 min, demonstrated how innovation in health increases the quality of service and patient safety. Currently, the Smart Track model continues to solidify throughout the hospital network that developed it, as well as being a reference for innovation in the hospital emergency process.
