STANDARDIZATION OF MEDICAL AND HOSPITAL MATERIAL BRANDS

Abstract

Standardization is an administrative tool to assist in selecting the most appropriate brands for future acquisition and use in an organization. The objective of this article is to describe the process of qualifying brands of medical-hospital materials for future acquisitions by the National Cancer Institute José Alencar Gomes da Silva (INCA). For this, the researchers were guided in answering the question of how the process of qualifying brands of medical-hospital materials in INCA is carried out? Using the unique case study methodology proposed by Yin (2015) as a research strategy in an empirical study whose sources of evidence were: observation, documentary survey and open interview. From these sources of evidence it is concluded that the process of standardization of brands in this public health institution is an essential step in the flow of the process in order to guarantee the supply of qualified supplies, the accomplishment of medical procedures and patient safety, optimizing the cycle time of purchases and acquisitions in the process of supplies of materials.
