O Estado de Bem-Estar Europeu em uma Perspectiva Histórica: O Gradual Processo de Liberalização das Políticas Sociais de Trabalho

A partir de uma perspectiva histórico-comparada, o artigo analisa o surgimento e a retração do Estado de Bem-estar Social nos países europeus, com enfoque na Europa Continental. Busca-se compreender como as transformações do capitalismo global, com início nos 1970, as quais vieram a se institucionalizar nos anos 1990 com a formação da União Europeia, afetaram o desenho institucional das políticas sociais, com ênfase nas políticas de trabalho e emprego. A principal conclusão é que, apesar das variações observadas no ritmo e intensidade das reformas realizadas pelos países da Europa Continental, todos caminharam na direção de maior flexibilização da proteção social.
